Here it is. The day has arrived. Apple Inc.'s iTunes Music Store (iTMS) is now the #1 music retailer in the USA.

Keep in mind: iTMS is a digital download-only music retailer. No physical product ever exchanged hands.

Remember when the RIAA had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the viability of music being sent electronically? Remember how they have said that there is no way any artist -- signed or unsigned -- will have the ability to reach the people via the internet? Now maybe this will shut them up.

Also of note, through the right channels (like CDBaby and the like), independent and unsigned artists also have their music distro'd through iTMS also, thus making it completely possible for Lisa Loeb's challenge* to happen again.

The next years in music distribution will be interesting indeed.

* Lisa Loeb's breakthrough hit "Stay (I Missed You)" is the first and so far only single to reach the BIllboard #1 pop chart without a record label.

Simple: Go to youtube.com do a search for the year you were born and check out the most excellebnt videos made from that year.

1972 Ca-p0wns them ALL. My proof are the links below:

1.) Hawkwind, "Silver Machine"
Dig the trippy psychedelic flute.

2.) Led Zep "Immigrant Song"
Okay, so it's one of those composite videos. Still the jam is there so sweet.

3.) King Crimson, "Lark's Tounge in Aspic, Part 1"
Atonal, free-form futzing turning into proto-metal-jazz fusion/be-bop and back again. (FYI: Parts 2,3,4 are less free form, each subsequent part taking on a theme from the previous part)

4.) David Bowie "Five Years" This take form the Old Grey Whistle Test. The real storyhere though is the comments of Nickelback fans freaking out. A fine perfromance worth waiting for... waiting for the video to stream that is. Bowie is folkie after all.

5.) Stevie Wonder rocks the Old School Sesame Street with a song that, with all due and every respect to the great Joe Raposo, should have been the theme for the show.

6.) 17-year-old Olga Korbut on the uneven bars at the Olympics that year. An amazing, gasp-worthy performance even 36 years on.

7.) Weather Report "Waterfall" More fusion. Some people can't take all that blatting and clangiing about. i don't mind it, actually.

Thwere's so much more. I await your comments.
