Support a charity that helps entertainment techs (the people who risk their lives working backstage) and see my old friend Patrick Hudson show off for charity.
From ESTA/BTS:
OK. Now that you know who they are, here's the deal. For the past eleven years, Patrick created and stills runs the website Back Stage Jobs which posts entertainment tech jobs for entertainment techs to apply for. It's a helluva a resource if you ask me.
As far as the ESTA goes, well... Patrick explains it best, so I'll let the cut/paste-without-permission-please-don't-sue tell the tale. Don't worry, I won't get all Fox News on ya:
Just on principle alone, supporting Behind the Scenes is a wonderful idea. But think about it. Wouldn't you like to have a svelte redhead greet your homepage every morning?
Here's the sites again for those who are on info overload:
ESTA Foundation: http://www.estafoundation.org/bts.htm
Back Stage Jobs: http://backstagejobs.com/
BSJ Blog: http://blog.thecontactsheets.com/
And now, more drum beats to modify.
From ESTA/BTS:
Behind the Scenes provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals when they are ill or injured. Individuals and organizations contribute money to the program, and Behind the Scenes provides grants for emergency situations. With this initiative, our industry can make sure our colleagues are cared for when tragedy strikes.

First: ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes fund was issued a $50,000 challenge grant in October from ETC. The ESTA Foundation managed to raise close to $40,000 at LDI, but that still leaves $10,000 to go to meet the challenge by Dec. 31st, 2007. ETC will match every dollar raised by Dec. 31st up to $50,000. This means any donation you give to Behind the Scenes will go twice as far to help fellow theatre professionals in their time of need
[...]
To assist in meeting ETC’s challenge, BackstageJobs.com will give away BackstageJobs.com mailing list subscriptions to anyone who donates at least $10.00 to Behind the Scenes between now, December 8th, 2007, and December 31, 2007.
[...]
If BackstageJobs.com users donate a total of at least $1000 to Behind the Scenes by December 31, 2007, I will have myself photographed naked, and post the best photo (don’t worry, it will be appropriately censored for public viewing). How’s that for incentive!.
