Elegy 2006
Dec. 13th, 2006 11:09 pmWe cannot live without artists.
Whether we live in complete ignorance of them
as we pass along the bus shelters, the tagged walls, the billboards
there is always an image,
a sound,
an idea
that shapes our correlation,
our connection to our everyday world
and the world of imagination
we walk in the remnants of two worlds
1.) the hum-drum of flash and clatter
and 2.) the clouds, the fantasies
and the what-ifs envisioned in different frontiers
deprived of that inner world --
that place of imagination,
self reflection ---
all is meaningless
even the realm of touch see taste hear feel
and we lose our ability to dream
some of us step out
play pretend for strangers
some of us gorge on words, ideas and
world far off
others the canvas is the chaos
of rattling vibrations, forced hush and
fractal divisions of time
we see
we dream
we laugh
we build
in all with the hope
of leaving the world better than it was
when we found it
and dared to dream
