Question from
khep:
How much money do you think I should charge for a commissioned portrait? How much would you as a buyer consider reasonable?
Answer:
Take your monthly rent.
Divide that by half.
Then divide that by how many days you spent
Making that portrait.
Subtract from that number times you took a break from
working on a portrait
whether it was making a sandwich
making a phone call to a friend
taking a bubble bath or
taking a nap
before coming back to the room to make final assessments
to put the work to bed for the night.
The price is there waiting for all to see
pad the number if you think you could sell more
siphon some numbers if you think you wouldn't buy it yourself.
But...
always make deals whenever possible;
Bartering is still an honorable option.
